The arrival at the Shaviyani atoll is surreal. A 55-minute scenic flight in a seaplane that takes off from a platform at the edge of the sea is already part of the program. Pilots in shorts and bare feet or at most in flip-flops attract attention with their laid-back style. That’s it! You have arrived in paradise. A ring of white sand juts out into the endless turquoise sea. And in the middle of the island, amazingly? there is a wonderful native forest. It was the greenest island I visited in the Maldives.
