The Château Hôtel Grand Barrail is a 19th century castle with the structure of a five-star resort surrounded by a three-hectare natural park near the Dordogne River, where you can hike in the gardens, go cycling, and picnic in the vineyards. It has 46 apartments divided into four buildings of varying styles. In the upper rooms, the decor is classic, typical of a castle, with canopy beds in some suites. To get to the medieval village of Saint-Emilion, just cycle 3 kilometers along scenic little roads, or take a five minute drive. Be sure to visit the 200-kilometer underground complex, which is one of the main attractions of the historic center, since the village is located on limestone soil that was quarried by the inhabitants for many centuries to build the houses and walls.
